I painted this little girl a while ago from a picture I took in KwaMhlanga, a rural area North of Pretoria. She was one of 1000 children that received a peanut butter sandwich daily as part of a feeding scheme. For some children, this was the only meal they received in a day. Many of these children live in child-headed families. Often, the oldest child in these families, that has to take care of younger siblings, is only in primary school. I hope that I have captured this beautiful girl with the sad eyes and that it will somehow contribute to the plight of children world-wide. This is a subject very close to my heart. No child should ever go hungry. Oil on canvas, approximately 60x90cm (unframed size), framed.
